What is Studc?
The Canadian Mathematical Society Student Committee (CMS Studc) was created in 1999 to help the Society serve the needs of university students. The Committee aims to develop and support the community of mathematics students across Canada.
Each year, the Committee carries out a number of major projects. We host a variety of events at the semi-annual CMS Meetings, including the AARMS-CMS Student Poster Session, panel discussions, various workshops, and a student social. Studc also oversees the bidding process and operation of the Canadian Undergraduate Mathematics Conference (CUMC), which brings together over one hundred math undergraduates annually at a Canadian university. We produce and distribute a semi-annual publication, Notes from the Margin, whose content ranges from research articles to games and puzzles, all submitted by Canadian mathematics students — you can find it in your department and online! The Committee also administers a regional conference fund, to support local student initiatives across the country.
