Notes from the Margin

About Notes from the Margin

The Margin is a bi-annual, bilingual publication intended for a wide mathematical audience. It features a variety of content, including concise research articles, opinion pieces, math-related stories, as well as puzzles and riddles — all of which are meant to be accessible to the entire mathematical community, starting from the senior undergraduate level. It is delivered electronically to all student members of the Canadian Mathematical Society, and you can download a .pdf version of any issue by clicking on one of the covers below. You can also read the issues in your browser through the CMS Studc Issuu page, and physical copies of the Margin are available at CMS Meetings and at the CUMC.

The next issue of Notes from the Margin is always just around the corner, and as such, we are always looking for submissions, in both English and French. Please read our submission guidelines for technical and stylistic advices regarding your submission. We also recommend that you use our LaTeX templates when writing your article. Submissions that are less than 150 words should use the short article template, while other submissions should use the general template. To submit your article, send your files as per the guidelines to the Editor-in-Chief at student-editor@cms.math.ca by the submission deadline.

For consideration in the upcoming issue (Summer 2025), the submission deadline is March 29, 2025 at midnight. If you have any questions about Notes from the Margin, please contact the current Editor-in-Chief, Jérémy Champagne, at student-editor@cms.math.ca.
