Bird’s Eye Conference
On March 23rd and 24th, the Mathematics Graduate Students’ Association at the University of Toronto hosted the second annual Bird’s Eye Conference.
At the conference, attendees were given a “bird’s eye view” of active research in the mathematics department through short, accessible talks given by fellow graduate students. There was an emphasis on fostering community, intradepartmental collaboration, and mathematical communication skills. Over 80 people attended the conference and over 30 people spoke. There were talks covering all major areas of research at U of T: Algebraic Geometry, Number Theory, Geometry & Topology, Set Theory & Combinatorics, and Analysis & Applied Math. In addition, there was a panel discussion on the graduate student experience and a workshop on mathematical communication.
We would like to thank the CMS Student Committee and our other supporters, their financial support helped make Bird’s Eye a reality.
